We stayed here for one night on our way to our final destination. We drove about 45 min out of the way because this place looked amazing. Unfortunately, we were let down. Before we booked, we called to see if the hot tub was in working order because it was the main reason we were interested in staying there. We were told they had been waiting on a part and weren’t sure if it had been received, so they would personally go check and call us back in 10 min. No phone call was ever made, so we called back. They then told us the manager said it was fully operational. Because of this, we booked immediately on the phone with them and made reservations for the restaurant. We booked a 2 queen room with fireplace. Upon arrival, the drive up to the resort is horrible. Not a major deal, but definitely needs attention. The views here are incredible. The room was nice and clean and the beds are comfortable. The restaurant was just average, but I did love the prickly pear drink. Back to the “hot” tub. Was the hot tub fully operational? No. With the name “hot” tub, one would assume the water would be hot. It was cold. We were very disappointed, but thought we would just go back and enjoy the fireplace. We called the front desk and asked how to start it and were told they are turned off until the end of the month. At no time upon booking was I informed of this. We didn’t need a 2 queen room, but thought the fireplace would be a nice addition. Ultimately, this place did not live up to our expectations and we will not be back.

Was very excited for the trip and really looking forward to the ranch. The staff were very friendly however just some key points that unfortunately ruined our experience:||1) the room had an awful musty smell.||2) the restaurant was very expensive especially for hotel guests who were already paying a high price to stay at Wild Catter.||3) we booked to go for a private ride the following day which we had been informed via email and their website that we could go faster then a walk as both myself and my friend are experienced riders so wanted the full western experience. |Upon arriving down at the stables the staff completely ignored us, we tried to speak to them and pat the horses but they continued to completely ignore us not saying one word whilst they tacked up (we found out after from reception that the man was the ranch manager which made it even more shocking. It seemed almost as if it was an inconvenience for us to be down at the stables, we ended up chatting to other riders who were also being given this treatment. When a lady finally called us all into the office we were told we were going on a public ride and it would be at walking pace. |My friend and I expressed we were booked on a private ride and informed we could go faster. She didn’t seem to care and told us she’s not sure about the mix up and will see what she can do (which turned out to be nothing to fix the situation). Still excited to ride we then proceeded to go on a group ride where the 2 ranch handlers ignored us for the full hour going round treking through muddy paths in silence not explaining scenery or allowing us to stop for photos. Even other guests were surprised by this and visibly uncomfortable particularly the novice riders. |Once back at the ranch they told us to get off, even as some people were trying to get photos they rushed us to take the horses then didn’t say anything and waited for us all to leave. We were all so surprised by this experience especially considering the walk round in mud cost $120 inc 20% tip pp which in my opinion wasn’t earnt at all! We went back up to the ranch to inform them of the ride mix up and they said the ranch manager would be in contact with us shortly. We waited 5 hours and he never came up or called us to discuss the mix up so we decided to cancel our ride for the next day and head off to go to another ranch which was 1000% better experience, the ranch wrangler was lovely and chatted to us the whole way round, we laughed, took photos, did a bit of trotting as it was too slippy from rain to go faster but it was such a better experience and $20 cheaper!

I had not been to this part of Texas before. Though not in a populated area, the resort is a destination. The town it is near is historic and so quaint "Texas style". If you want peace and quiet and to see what REAL Texas looks like this is your place! They even have long horn cattle, plus trail rides and many other activities. Accommodations include a "hotel" with a beautiful open lobby and the most authentic looking cabins - though new and update, you have ever seen. They even have a Texas size Ranch House that can be rented for the whole family. Wedding photos from this resort look to be like what dreams are made of. The restaurant food was fabulous. But the best part for me was the views! Sunsets were gorgeous! The staff at every level were the most hospitable I've encountered in a long time. Do not overlook this wonderful part of Texas and this hidden gem!
